Newry Sinn Féin Elected Reps Clinic Proves Extremely PopularPublished: 27 October, 2008
Sinn Féin launched its elected representative's clinic on Saturday 25th October in the Meadow/Armagh Roadcommunity Centre. The clinic which took place between 10am and 12 noon provided the local community with the opportunity to meet with their local Sinn Féin representatives in order deal with a wide range of issues.
Speaking after the clinic Sinn Féin Councillor. Marian Mathers said,
"The Hughes/Grant/Watters and Marks/McKeown Sinn Féin cumainn should be commended for this initiative as the clinic proved to be very worthwhile and popular among local residents. A range of issues were dealt with on the day including: welfare rights issues, traffic calming issues, the warm homes scheme and council issues. Some people also took the opportunity to fill out electoral registration forms and had passport forms signed."
Councillor Charlie Casey who was also present at the clinic said,
"It is very worthwhile for elected reps to hear directly the problems facing the people we represent so that we can fight to have them resolved. We fully intend to make these clinics a regular occurrence with further events being planned for Saturday 8th November in Derrybeg Community House and on 15th November in Mourne View Community House. I would encourage anyone who feels that there is something we can help them with to come along and everyone is welcome."
Note to Editors
Elected reps in attendance were Mickey Brady MLA, Councillor Charlie Casey and Councillor Marian Mathers
