Public DPP meeting in Keady a stepping stone to fully accountable policing in the area - McNally

Sinn Féin's Darren McNally has described last night's Public DPP meeting in Keady as a stepping stone to fully accountable policing in the area.

Mr. McNally said,

"It really was great to see local people come out in such huge numbers to Keady to air their concerns with the DPP. It was evident that those present felt comfortable to voice their criticisms and give an input into how they feel their community should be policed."

"A number of concerns were brought forward on the night, including anti-social behaviour and PSNI response times to incidents of crime. The PSNI at times have said that they have a lack of resources, last night gave local residents the opportunity to let the PSNI know how they want those resources to be used and how they want their community to be policed."

"I am glad that this event took place and I feel that this is a stepping stone to bringing truly accountable policing to Keady and also a step forward to creating a Police Service that everyone in the area can feel comfortable with. The facts that the meeting was hosted in Keady amongst friends and neighbours helped those present feel more comfortable to question the PSNI which is something that can be built upon for future meetings."
