Sinn Féin's Anthony Flynn has said that the Minister of Employment and Learning needs to outline his strategy to ensure more 16-19 year olds take up education, employment or training opportunities.

Mr. Flyyn said his party are to table a motion in the Assembly which reads, "That this Assembly expresses its concerns at the number of 16-19 year olds who are not in education, employment or training; and calls on the Minister for Employment and Learning to outline his actions to address this situation." will highlight the lack of opportunities for young people."

Cllr. Flynn said,

"It is a deep issue of concern for people across the Six Counties that many thousands of young people are not in employment, accessing government training schemes or in full time education.

"This is an issue that must be addressed by the Minister and I look forward to hearing what proposals his department will be implementing to help tackle this issue head on for the benefit of those many young people who want and need assistance, whether it be educational, training or indeed employment."
