Sinn Féin Councillor Mary Doyle Expresses Concern following the Erection of Mast at ArmaghbreaguePublished: 27 November, 2008
Sinn Féin's Mary Doyle has stated that there is concern among the Armaghbreague / Granemore community following the erection of a mast on the reservoir grounds, Armaghbreague.
Cllr. Doyle said,
"I understand that legally there was no neighbourhood notification needed because the mast is more than 90 metres from a residence. However given the widespread opposition to proposals to build a telecommunications mast there some years ago many people have expressed their shock that it was erected in the very same spot that had sparked such controversy."
I feel that those building this mast should have shown some initiative or care for the community by consulting with them first. It is extremely disappointing that a mast has now been erected in an area where it is clearly not wanted."
"I have been told that there was a small notification in the paper in January but none of those people who have raised concerns had noticed it. Many feel that it was advertised with the hope that it would go unnoticed."
"I intend to contact all relevant people in order to find out if any other locations had been surveyed or if the mast at Carrigatuke could have doubled up rather than have 2 masts in such a small area."
