"A DOG IS NOT JUST FOR CHRISTMAS" A LIFE LONG COMMITTMENT

Published: 8 December, 2008

Christmas in particular sees an increase in the purchasing of dogs especially puppies for gifts at Christmas. However all those who are considering getting a puppy for Christmas are reminded of the reality of care that is required and the commitment that is involved.

Gemma Quinn who celebrates her first year as proprietor of "Bowsie Wowsie" Dog Care shop at the

Green Road

speaking on the issue said

"For those thinking about purchasing a dog especially a puppy needs to realise the amount of care required and the commitment that is involved. Puppies are definitely not for little children as a present for Christmas; unless the parent is prepared that by the time the day is out, the child will have passed it over to you. This is a life-long commitment"

"Dogs will give back more than you will give in a lifetime. You will love them and care for them just like a child. Just remember all the hard graft that is involved".

Concluding the young Corrinshego girl stated

"A dog is for life not just for Christmas. There will be animal shelters throughout the country that in the days after Christmas will be bracing themselves for the after Christmas rush of abandoned puppies and young dogs. Make sure your dog is not one of them"
