Farmers should be watchful for animal breakouts - Corrigan

Published: 16 December, 2008

Sinn Féin Councillor Paul Corrigan has called on farmers to be alert for animals breaking out, Paul said "I have been told that an accident occurred on the Middletown road which was caused by a sheep breaking out from a field, thankfully no one was seriously hurt", the Councillor continued "Like anyone who lives in or near the countryside I know how difficult it can be to prevent such breakouts but I would urge all farmers to keep a good check on their hedges and fencing " the Sinn Féin representative went on "at this time of the credit crunch I know how hard it can be to maintain fencing, not that this had anything to do with the Middletown breakout, but I would urge every farmer to take extra care as a few savings now could lead to major costs later, costs which may not just be financial"
