Use of Sand Boxes Can Save Lives - RaffertyPublished: 17 December, 2008
Sinn Féin Councillor, Cathy Rafferty has called for the public to make greater use of sand boxes in order to save lives on our roads.
Cllr. Rafferty said,
"Following an accident last Tuesday in Umgola Heights when the driver was taken to hospital I contacted Roads Service in order to request that the roads in that area are gritted in order to prevent more accidents from happening.
"I am glad to say that Umgola Heights, Milford, Mullacreevie and Rock Roadwere subsequently gritted and I wish to thank Roads Service for their speedy response. I have also requested that more yellow boxes filled with sand are installed in new housing developments.
Cllr. Rafferty concluded,
"I would also call on residents to make use of these yellow boxes; it takes little effort to spread sand outside your house and can potentially save lives |
