Accident on Monaghan Road

Published: 21 December, 2008

Sinn Féin Armagh Councillor, Cathy Rafferty has called for the installation of traffic lights on

Monaghan Road

near the junction with

Umgola Road

following a two car collision on Saturday 20th.

Cllr. Rafferty said

"This is a very dangerous stretch of road and I feel that perhaps the installation of traffic lights may go some way in order to make this road safer.

I have met with Roads Service regarding this road before and I will be requesting another meeting in the New Year, I will also be requesting that the speed limit on both the

Monaghan Rd

and

Portadown Rd

are reassessed."

Cllr Rafferty concluded by calling for safe driving over the Christmas period.

"I want to make a call on all motorists to take care on the roads this Christmas. People should remember to be careful, slow down and not be in a rush. The most important thing is that you get there safe. All motorists have a role to play in ensuring that this Christmas is a safe one on our roads."
