Mayor joins NIPSA picket in Armagh

Sinn Féin councillor and Mayor of Armagh City and District Council, Noel Sheridan joined a NIPSA picket which is opposing the proposed job cuts in Social Services.

Cllr. Sheridan said,

"These potential job losses are a worrying development. This is an issue of particular concern for Sinn Féin. A number of our MLAs have met with NIPSA to listen to their concerns which are indeed quite serious.

"The diminution of frontline services in social security offices will have a detriment and widespread affect in the current financial climate as benefit claims by phone for people here will not be as effective."

"I am also concerned as particular hardship will be put on families and people with children who would have to travel to Newry especially during school times
