Sinn Féin support 'Armagh United' campaign

Sinn Féin MLA, Cathal Boylan has added his voice to the Armagh United campaign. Mr Boylan was speaking after signing a petition along with his Sinn Féin colleagues at the Council building on Monday evening. The petition is demanding that threatened public sector jobs are preserved in Armagh.

Mr. Boylan said,

"Up to 200 public sector jobs are under threat in this area. Such losses would have a devastating affect on this city and surrounding areas."

"This is a matter of the people of Armagh standing up and with a united voice saying that they will not allow our city to be treated in this way.

Sinn Féin Councillor Mary Doyle agreed and said,

"This for Armagh is death by a thousand cuts. We'll all suffer, but perhaps it's the vulnerable in our society - the mentally ill and the elderly - who will suffer the greatest pain. The impact on people, patients, their families and staff have not been taken into consideration. There are other options open to the Trust and they must examine them."

Cathal Boylan concluded by calling on everyone to sign the petition either online at the Council building or at www.armagh.gov.uk. The petition will also be made available outside churches and at shopping centres
