Preliminary Work at happy days junction welcomedPublished: 20 February, 2009
Sinn Féin Councillor Anthony Flynn has welcomed confirmation from Roads Service that preliminary work is to begin to increase road safety at Happy Days junction Mullach Bán
Cllr Flynn said,
"I met with Road Service this week to discuss issues that had been raised with me by several roads users. Many people were concerned with the level of sight available at Happy Days junction in Mullach Bán. They were concerned that the junction poses a serious road safety threat as a number of buses congregate at that spot and that the driver's view is hindered by two very bad hills on the road.
"Roads service has agreed to begin preliminary work on the road to improve the situation. This is a welcome development which I feel will go some way making this junction safer."
Cllr Flynn added,
"I have also requested that a small path be installed at Maphoner and Mill Roads on the main Newry to Crossmaglen Roadas the route is regularly used by walkers would avail of a walking path."Críoch
