Rural Development Information Evening

Sinn Fein Councillor Mary Doyle has highlighted the importance of attending an information session on the Rural Development Program, which is taking place in the Old Mill in Keady on Monday the 9th March, from 10am until 1pm.

Cllr Doyle said,

"I will be accompanied by my colleague Councillor Darren McNally on this program, and we would urge constituents to take advantage of this session. Experienced staff will be on hand to answer questions as well as outlining the program and the benefits could have for our community."

"The Rural Development Program is a six year programme that will bring into effect the rural development priorities of the European Rural Development Regulation. The phase which is about to be launched is Axis 3 which is aimed at improving the quality of life in rural areas and encourage diversification of the rural economy."

"This program is aimed at; diversification into non agricultural activities, micro business creation and development, tourism, basic services for rural economy and population, village renewal and development, and lastly the conservation and upgrading of the rural heritage."

Cllr Doyle concluded,

"This program is open to all and has the potential to offer great opportunities, especially in this present climate of economic downturn. Information can also be obtained by contacting Armagh City and District Council."
