Sinn Féin MLA Welcomes "Electoral Clinic"Published: 27 February, 2009
Cathal Boylan has welcomed the news that there is to be an Electoral Clinic at the Cathedral Road Recreation and Community Centre, Armagh on the 6th March. Speaking on the clinic the Sinn Féin MLA said "This is good news for anyone who is not on the electoral register or for those without any form of photographic ID and I would urge anyone in this condition to make their way to the Sherry's Field complex on the 6th March between 10.30am and 1.00pm to have themselves registered"
"Given the current obstacles being placed in the way of getting registered where it is easier to get unto the electoral register in Alabama in the USA than it is here, this has to be welcomed. All those needing photographic identification should also avail of this opportunity as if they don't it is no longer possible to send a form off to get some"
"Over the last few months my office has had numerous requests for electoral identification both for the upcoming European Election on the 6th of June and as it is also useful when opening a bank account or travelling since most airlines and shipping companies now won't let you travel without government issued ID"
"There would appear to be relatively large numbers of people having problems registering, so I urge these voters not on the register or in need of ID to make a note and attend this clinic and if they still have problems getting on the register to contact my office by telephone 028 3751 1797 or call into 1 Ogle Street to make me aware of what problems are being encountered"
