Wanton Vandalism Condemned

Published: 30 March, 2009

The wanton attack on a car in the early hours of Sunday morning has been condemned by Sinn Féin Councillor Cathy Rafferty.

Cllr Rafferty said

"The vacant car was parked in the cul de sac in

Callan street

so that it could be viewed by potential buyers, people in the area have told me that they heard loud noises and then realised that the young man's car had been vandalised.

I have looked at the damage myself and it would appear that some form of sharp instrument was used in the attack, and I thank god that no one was present during the attack as it happened or we could be facing a tragedy of the worst kind. I don't know what warped reasons drive someone to carry out such attacks on property but I would urge whoever is responsible to stop.

Cllr Rafferty concluded

"Also there are those who must know those who are responsible and I would urge them to come forward to put a stop to this anti social behaviour".
