"No closure of Anamar" MP tells CCMS
Sinn Féin MP and assembly member for Newry and Armagh Conor Murphy met with a senior official from CCMS today (31st) regarding the consultation on the future of Anamar School.
Mr. Murphy told the meeting the CCMS of the importance that the school has in the local community and said that its closure would have a detrimental affect on the area.
Commenting after the meeting Mr Murphy said,
"Today's meeting has been another positive step to prevent the closure of Anamar School."
"I explained to the official how the closure of a rural school such as Anamar would affect the community here."
Mr Murphy then outlined how the school provides a top class education to its pupils and told the representative of the good work and leadership that is being shown by the school principal and teachers at this time.
Mr Murphy said,
"I also told the official that a clear statement from the CCMS on the future of Anamar School is required as soon as possible.."
Mr Murphy concluded by stating that he felt that the CCMS officials had taken his suggestions on board and that he is hopeful for the future of Anamar School
