Mc NALLY TO RAISE PARKING TICKET CONCERNSPublished: 9 May, 2009
Keady Sinn Fein Councillor Darren McNally has promised to raise the concerns of the Local business people in the town regarding parking tickets and the detrimental effect that traffic wardens were having on trading in Keady.
Councillor McNally responding to the concerns of the local business community said:
"I share the concerns of the traders in Keady who are experiencing a down turn in business. The number of vacant shops and the general decline in economic activity in the town is a matter of concern for everyone.
"Anything which is impacting negatively on the smaller shops and businesses that are the backbone of the local economy needs to be addressed. Local business people who have approached me during the past week have been expressing concerns that traffic wardens are causing people to avoid the town. A number of tickets were dished out on bank holiday Monday the resultant loss of trade is further hurting our local shops and businesses who are struggling to keep their heads above water in this recession."
"While it is necessary to have some form of regulation to prevent total chaos and to aid traffic flows through Keady, it is also necessary for the local community to be able to go about their shopping without the fear of getting a ticket. Cllr McNally has written to the NCP to clarify their position on giving out tickets on a bank holiday. |
