Councillor Doyle said "While I understand and commend NIE's warning to farmers of the dangers of working near overhead power lines, I feel that this is somewhat hypocritical as they are showing complete disregard for the safety of those living along the proposed route of the overhead Armagh-Tyrone interconnector. This is double standards of the highest order." "I once again call on NIE and Eirgrid to lay the interconnector underground this for the safety of my constituents and the people throughout Ireland who will be affected by the proposed overhead lines." "We in Sinn Féin recognise the need for an all Ireland approach to our power needs but we also recognise that the health and well being of the people of Ireland must take precedence over the quest for the quick profit. Any risk to health must be given priority over profit, and in this instance the dangers far outweigh the arguments put forward by NIE on the benefit of building |
