MP comments on specualted job losses in Newry

Amid fears that up to 120 jobs could be lost from the teleperformance call centre in Newry, local Sinn Féin MP Conor Murphy has said that he will fight for the that the region Mr Murphy said "The announcement today that up to 120 staff may lose their jobs is worrying indeed not only for those workers involved but also the remaining staff.

"This decision to move this work to Cork is bad news for the economy in Newry and the surrounding area.

"I am calling on teleperformance to be honest with the entire staff here.

Mr Murphy concluded by stating that he will do everything is his power to prevent further jobs losses in Newry and Armagh.

"Sinn Féin will fight for every worker in this area, at this time of economic downturn every job is of vital importance."
