Sinn Féin MP for Newry and Armagh, Conor Murphy has confirmed that he is to address a youth camping weekend organised by the newly formed 'Mol an Óige' youth group.

Mr Murphy said that he was aware of the work being done by the youth group and that he believes the group is a credit to South Armagh.

Mr Murphy said,

"I am glad to have been invited to speak at the event in Tí Chulainn this weekend as it is a great opportunity to engage with the young people of this area.

"Mol an Óige is a great initiative which strives to provide an alternative for young people who are interested in Irish Cultural activities and are a credit to this area.

Chairperson of Mol an Óige Patrick Quinn outlined the work of the group,

"Mol an Óige was established for young people aged between 14 and 18 and created in an attempt to encourage and promote the participation in Irish Cultural activities (Music, Sport, History & Language) among young people in the South Armagh area. Our organisation has obtained all relevant training and child protection courses and as a result has recently received funding to bring forward our endeavours.

"I would like to extend an invitation to our inaugural youth weekend in Ti Chullain from Friday 26th - Sunday 28th June to all those across Armagh and Down aged between 14 - 18 years old.

"We would encourage similar youth groups to support this event as it is a great way for young people to socialise, interact and engage with other young people, make new friends whilst promoting our Irish Culture.

Mr Quinn added that the event promises to be action packed, fun, and informative.
