Board of Governors in primary schools have a responsibility to ensure that school recourses are only used to provide the curriculum set by the Education Board - McCreesh

Sinn Féin Councillor Jimmy McCreesh has stated that Board of Governors in primary schools have a responsibility to ensure school recourses are only used to provide the curriculum set by the Education Board..
Councillor McCreesh said,
"Members of Board of Governors must stand firm and ensure that school resources are not used to pander to the minority who want to maintain academic selection through private tests.
"Primary schools find it hard enough to balance the books to provide the full curriculum to children without having to spend money on after school coaching for private exams. These tests are outside the curriculum and the people who want these tests to continue must outline how they intend to fund the extra coaching that some parents are looking for.
"I have heard of local schools who want to open after hours and on Saturdays to provide after school coaching for the children whose parents want to them to sit these new entrance tests.
"I would caution people on Board of Governors of local schools to ensure that none of the school budget is being used to pander to the minority and also look at implications for the insurance
