Published: 26 June, 2009

Slieve Gullion Sinn Féin councillor Anthony Flynn has said that the school bus service in the Dromintee area will continue. Cllr Flynn made the comments today after meeting with officials from the transport service along with teachers from Dromintee, Jonesborough and Forkhill schools.

Cllr Flynn said,

"I am happy to say that after meeting with Mr Hanna and Mr Wilkinson from the school transport section of the education board, they have agreed to come to an accommodation in order to retain the school bus service.

"When all arrangements have been finalised the schools will call a public meeting to explain the situation to parents. It is expected that this will be sometime in August.

Cllr Flynn concluded by thanking all parents and teachers from the three schools for all the work that they have done in order to prevent the withdrawal of this service and also thanking Mr. Hanna and Mr Wilkinson for their co-operation
