Disappointment at withdrawal of non-acute geriatric beds at MullinurePublished: 10 July, 2009
Sinn Féin MP Conor Murphy has expressed his disappointment following an announcement that Health Minister, Michael McGimpsey has supported the Southern Health Trust's proposal to withdraw the non-acute geriatric beds from Mullinure hospital.
Mr. Murphy said,
"I am deeply concerned that Mullinure hospital will no longer provide non-acute geriatric beds. This service is of utmost importance to many patients at Mullinure.
His party colleague Cathal Boylan agreed and stated,
"While I welcome Mr. McGimpsey's announcement that 85 new jobs will be created at the hospital, I remain concerned for the current staff at the hospital. Sinn Féin will continue to pursue this issue and demand that these jobs are maintained. Public sector jobs are vital to the economy in Armagh |
