TV LICENCE REFUNDS

Published: 17 July, 2009

Cathy Rafferty the Sinn Féin Councillor for Armagh City had some advice for those who are in receipt of free television licence's, Cathy said "Everyone should be aware that anyone over 75 is entitled to a free television licence, but I wish to make those approaching the age e aware, that that they should call the licensing authority before they pay for their last licence before their 75 birthday"

Cllr Rafferty explained that while it is all too easy to overpay and then you will have to apply for a refund, if you contact them they will send out a revised bill which will be for the amount to cover the period before your birthday.

"I know of one lady who phoned 5 times to try to get a refund and it was only when she approached the Sinn Féin office that she became aware that there was a form available online which could be used to apply"

"Anyone wishing to talk to TV licence should phone 0845 155 0404 or if there any difficulties, or have no internet access to download forms contact the Sinn Féin office 028 3751 1797 and we will be happy to do everything we can to help
