MP confident that Newry will be connected to project KelvinPublished: 24 July, 2009
Sinn Féin MP for Newry/Armagh Conor Murphy has said that he is now confident that Newry will be connected to Project Kelvin. Mr Murphy was speaking after meeting with Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster along with Cllr Charlie Casey and representatives from the chamber of commerce and business community.
Speaking after the meeting Conor Murphy said,
"I am pleased with the outcome of today's meeting and I am confident that businesses in Newry will soon reap the benefits of Project Kelvin.
"Newry's participation in the project would allow the area to attract large knowledge-based companies to the area, and would facilitate the promotion of Newry as a business centre on the main route between the two largest cities on this island.
"There are a number of internet providers in Newry who couldconnect businesses to their POP (point of presence) system if requested."
Mr Murphy also confirmed that he will be arranging a meeting with Prjoect Kelvin owners, Hibernia, in the coming week to progress the matter further. |
