Councillor Seeks Recycling Point Solution

Published: 27 July, 2009

Councillor Cathy Rafferty has hopes that with the assistance of the local community and the Spar shop on the Killylea Road a solution can be found to ongoing problems with waste recycling in the area. The Sinn Féin councillor said "I have been contacted by local residents regarding the recycling point situated at the Spar shop on the Killylea road, they have grave concerns about an anti-social element who take delight in pushing the bottle and can bins over, causing but noise and litter problems"

Cathy went on "when I contacted the recycling officer in the council she carried out a swift investigation of the problems and indicated that unfortunately the Spar shop would be unable to relocate the recycling bins at the present. However they would be installing CCTV in the area in an effort to identify those responsible, it was also indicated to me that the recycling point could be moved to another site if local residents or anyone else has a suitable suggestion of such a site"
