Homes in South Armagh evacuated due to security alertPublished: 7 September, 2009
South Armagh Sinn Féin councillor Anthony Flynn has said a number of families on Carrive road Silverbridge have been evacuated from their homes as a suspicious device was found in the area.
"The area is sealed off both north and south. Many families have been disrupted and moved out, scores more are also being affected".
Mr Flynn said farmers could not get access to their fields.
"The worry of some of the local people is that spotter planes and helicopters were out before they were even told about it,"
"I can understand why they are being careful, but I think local people should have been made aware a lot sooner
