Used syringe, spoon and tinfoil found in public toilet

Sinn Féin deputy Mayor Charlie Casey has issued a warning to parents and children in Newry not to touch any needles that they find lying about in the town. The warning was issued after a used needle, a spoon and tinfoil were found in a public toilet at the markets.

Cllr Casey stated that

'These needles can contain blood borne diseases such as Hepatitis C and HIV. I would urge anyone who finds a needle to contact the PSNI without delay.

"I would also call on young people to refrain from taking drugs and to be aware of the potential risks to their health especially from these highly addictive and dangerous substances.

"It is extremely worrying that this needle was discovered in a public toilet where it could have been found by anyone."
