NEW PIPELINE LONG OVERDUE: CLLR. COLMAN BURNS.

Published: 25 September, 2009

"This is great news but long overdue" These were the words of Sinn Fein Councillor Colman Burns as he welcomed the news that the water pipeline at O'Callaghans Road, Tullydonnell is to be renewed in the coming months.

Councillor Burns explained, " Over the last year, I have been getting numerous calls from residents of the Ballynaclosha,

Tullydonnell Rd.

regarding the service they were getting from NI Water. Tap water was cut off for hours on end throughout the summer leaving bathing, showering, cooking etc. impossible. Other businesses such as hairdressing that is totally dependent on water, was hugely affected by the erratic supply.

Due to the fact that

O'Callaghans Road

had a higher than normal history of pipe bursts, I arranged a meeting on site with Water Service officials and some residents of the affected area. This meeting took place on Tuesday 22nd Sept. on the

Ballynaclosha Road

and, thankfully, was a huge success with Officials agreeing that the pipeline needed to be renewed. This is great news for the very patient residents that have had to endure this less than satisfactory situation"

Councillor Burns concluded by stating that he would continue to liase with Water Service to ensure that the pipeline was renewed at the earliest possible date to ensure that these long suffering businesses and families would get an acceptable service.
