NO DUMPING AT CARRIGATUKE - Sinn Féin

Published: 19 October, 2009

Armagh Sinn Féin councillor Mary Doyle has voiced her concerns at the continued dumping at Carrigatuke viewpoint, Co. Armagh.

Cllr Doyle said,

"In recent times I have dealt with the ongoing problem with regards to dumping at Carrigatuke viewpoint and the surrounding area. Many people use this area for recreational walking and for rubbish to be dumped here can take away from the beautiful scenery. The items which are dumped are cleaned up by Armagh City and District Council through a specialist company - this costs money and has a knock on effect for the while district.

"If people would only take the time to consider others we might have a cleaner, greener environment to enjoy.

"I have recently been approached by a concerned resident who is still concerned about the issue. I have instructed Council officials to erect "NO DUMPING" signage around the area in an attempt to discourage people from using it as an unofficial dump. I would urge people to use the appropriate facilities to get rid of waste materials."
