Brady to meet the Quays and Roads Service over the introduction of parking feesPublished: 20 October, 2009
Sinn Féin MLA for Newry/Armagh, Mickey Brady, has said that he will meet representatives from the Quays and Roads Service in order to discuss the consequences of the shopping centre's recent introduction of parking charges. The Quays have also introduced barriers at the entrance to the car park.
Mr. Brady said;
"I raised the concerns of constituents with representatives from the Quays yesterday. Many people are concerned that during busy periods, especially over Christmas, these barriers will create traffic chaos as those queuing for the car park will be forced out onto the Dublin Road. This road is already extremely busy at peak times.
"There is also great concern among those who shop in the Quays that the maximum daily charge for parking is £20. In this difficult economic climate that would be an extremely expensive charge for people, especially for those who will also be spending a fortune on Christmas presents in the Quays.
"I have also spoken to Roads Service in order to raise these concerns with them. I now plan to meet with both Roads Service and the Quays in the near future to discuss the matter further."
