Public Prosecution Service agree to build regional office in NewryPublished: 22 October, 2009
Sinn Féin MP for Newry/Armagh, Conor Murphy, has welcomed correspondence which states that the Public Prosecution Service (PPS) has signed an 'Agreement Lease' which will allow building to begin on its new regional office in Newry. The new office will be based on the Downshire Roadand have a staffing complement of 50 people.
Welcoming the announcement Mr. Murphy said;
"Many people in Newry and the surrounding areas will welcome the news that 50 jobs have been moved into the town.
"We had been lobbying the PPS for the last number of years to locate its regional office in Newry. We also worked with them to find a suitable location here. I am delighted that the lease has now been signed and the new office will be open next April."
