Three burglaries in Forkhill on Thursday
Published: 24 October, 2009
Sinn Féin councillor Anthony Flynn has condemned a recent spate of burglaries in the Forkhill area of South Armagh. Three houses were robbed in the village between 3pm and 4.30pm on Thursday.
Commenting on the robberies councillor Flynn said;
"The community here in Forkhill are outraged at the actions of these individuals who have taken it upon themselves to rob members of this community.
"The most harrowing aspect of this latest incident is that the culprits had the audacity to commit these crimes in broad day light.
"This has obviously caused great stress to the people who came home to find their homes damaged and their belongings missing.
"However, I am delighted by the response of the Forkhill safety group who quickly called to one of the homes and secured the door to help make the home safer. This type of community spirit must be commended and welcomed.
Cllr Flynn concluded by urging the community to remain vigilant. He called on neighbours to be particularly careful and to ensure that this unfortunate incident is not repeated.
