Whitecross robbery condemned - Sinn FéinPublished: 24 October, 2009
Fews Sinn Fein councillor Jimmy Mc Creesh has lambasted the culprits behind the latest break-in in the Belleek/Whitecross area. His condemnation came in the wake of a break-in at a family home in the Tullyah Road area of Whitecross on Tuesday 20th October. Thieves entered the family home at around 5 am in the morning and proceeded to ransack the house whilst searching extensively for any items of value. The thieves eventually made off with a number of valuable items as well as two family cars owned by the occupants of the house.
Expressing his outrage at the episode Mc Creesh stated" It is utterly disgusting to think that there are some people out there with the gall to intrude into someones home and rob them of their possessions. This family are respected in the community as hard working, and it is beneath contempt that the culprits should seek to punish them for this in this manner. The most menacing aspect of this incident is that they were not deterred by the presence of this family as they used the cover of darkness to break-in and proceed to go onto a rampage of destruction. The thieves behind this cowardly act have nothing to offer this community, and they have no place amongst the decent people in this community. The sooner scum like this get the message that the community will not countenance acts of this despicable nature the better".
Mc Creesh urged others in the community to exercise extreme vigilance and caution. He noted that incidents of the nature were becoming worryingly common and that the community must be alert if they, are to thwart the criminal elements behind them. He urges particular vigilance given that we are entering a period which will include festive celebrations of both Halloween and Christmas.
