Brady comments on 'Right to Read' rally in Stormont

Sinn Féin MLA for Newry and Armagh, Mickey Brady, has voiced his support for the 'Right to Read' campaign following a reception for RNIB in Stormont during the week.

Mr Brady said:

"It is absolutely essential that everyone is given every assistance and opportunity in order to fulfill their full potential in all aspects of life. This applies especially to those with physical disabilities such as the Blind and partially sighted.

"We should strive to ensure that as much learning and informational material as possible is available on request in the appropriate format to enable the blind and partially sighted to read literature which the rest of us take for granted, such as doctor, hospital or dentist appointments.

"It is also crucial that learning material for blind and partially sighted children are readily available so that these children have the same educational opportunities as fully sighted children.

"I fully support this campaign and will facilitate RNIB in accessing the appropriate Ministers and Assembly Committees where they can put their case directly and articulate it far better than I ever could. I wish them full success in their campaign. ENDS
