Hearty presses Bank of Ireland to state when ATM will be replaced

Published: 24 January, 2010

Crossmaglen Sinn Féin councillor Terry Hearty has said that the Bank of Ireland must let the people of Crossmaglen know if and when the stolen ATM will be replaced. The ATM was recently ripped from the wall of the bank by a criminal gang.

Cllr Hearty said;

"As a result of the actions of these criminals, Crossmaglen and this entire area have been left without a 24 ATM. The community has been robbed of a much used and vital service. Many people in this area are unable to travel long distances to access their money as they do not have the transport to do so.

"I have asked the bank to ensure that the cash machine is replaced as soon as possible. They must also let their customers and those who use the ATM know when they plan to return this service.

"The criminals responsible must not be allowed to inflict this inconvenience on our community."

Cllr Hearty concluded by calling on anyone who has any information relating to the theft of the ATM to come forward immediately.

"Anyone with any information which could help bring an end to these crimes should come forward immediately."
