McDonald commends South Armagh man who apprehended burglarPublished: 4 February, 2010
Sinn Féin Councillor Packie McDonald has commended a South Armagh man who apprehended a burglar in Meigh during the week.
Cllr McDonald said;
"I understand that a member of the local safety group spotted two people acting suspiciously. When he checked what they were doing, they fled the scene. After apprehending one of the men he handed him over to the PSNI who arrived later. The PSNI then confirmed that a house had been broken into nearby.
"I want to commend this man for his brave actions in apprehending this man.
"The actions of this man have dealt a blow to the criminals who feel that they can hold our community to ransom.
"It is also evidence of the role that a strong community can have in preventing crime.
"I would encourage anyone who feels that they have information which could assist in stopping burglaries or other crimes in our community to contact their local community group, CRJ, PSNI or Sinn Féin." |
