Confirmation of Camlough world record welcomed by MP

Published: 16 February, 2010

Welcoming the confirmation that the Camlough swim successfully broke the world record, local MP Conor Murphy has paid tribute to the organisers, swimmers and all those who made the swim possible. The regional development minister who was the first swimmer in the water during the swim in September said;

"Although we had known for some time that the world record had been broken, I am delighted that the success of the swim has been made official. It is testament to the community in Camlough that this small village could host such a fantastic event. I want to pay tribute to all those who worked tirelessly to organise the swim. Everyone who took part must also be commended as well as everyone who helped out throughout the nine days of the event.

"This announcement has made all that hard work worth while."
