Sinn Fein submit Emergency Gaza Council Motion

This motion comes following the storming of an aid flotilla in International Waters last week.

Speaking on the topic Fews councillor Jimmy McCreesh said, "People here must show solidarity with the people of Gaza. As the councillors are elected by the people we must lead people on this matter. The situation in Gaza is at crisis point, the people need aid now, and this is an issue of human rights.

"Sinn Fein will not stand by while the people of Gaza are being persecuted and while Israeli troops storm an aid ship in international waters. These actions are wrong and have been condemned by Governments all over the world. We are calling for the immediate end to the blockade of Gaza by Israel and the safe passage of the Irish registered MV Rachel Corrie."
