Newry and Armagh MLA, Mickey Brady has announced that there is to be a public meeting to discuss the problems with the proposed boundary changes. The meeting which is to be held in the Savoy Suite of the Canal Court Hotel at 7.30pm on 10th December will allow members of the public to come and hear the Assembly member's views on the issue and also to see his proposition on how the urban identity of Newry can be maintained. The visitor from the USA, who recently was injured in a incident in Crossmaglen resulting in the man ending his vacation to the area prematurely has stated that he is deeply touched by the amount of concern he has received from "many kind people in the area" regarding as what he describes "his misfortune". At the commemoration on Sunday a huge crowd assembled at the Square in Cullyhanna and paraded through the village, past the monument and on to the Chapel for the anniversary Mass. There was a large number of banners from the local area, including the Michael McVerry Cullyhanna banner.
The main speaker at the commemoration was Sinn Féin's candidate for the upcoming European elections, Thomas Sharkey from Co. Louth.

The conference was attended by over a hundred republicans from across the electoral area and gave all members the chance to decide how they feel their Party should be run. The 51st Annual Commemoration for the five republicans who lost their lives during the IRA's border campaign in 1957 was well attended by republicans from all over Ireland.
The theme of this year's march was 'women in struggle' with large photos of hundreds of female republicans who have died since 1798 being carried by young people from South Armagh. The main speaker at the commemoration was Bairbre de Brún.
Speaking after the event, Mayor of Newry and Mourne District Council, Colman Burns said,
"Although the weather on the day was cold and wet it did not deter the large crowd from flocking to Edentubber. It is a testament to those men that, 51 years later over thousands of people still come out annually to remember their sacrifice." Read full article

Newry and Mourne Councillor Charlie Casey has stated that he has grave concerns about the future of up to ninety jobs in the local Tax Office in Newry. The Councillor explained that in June of this year the Revenue & Customs Department published its proposals in relation to the location of offices outside of Belfast. During the four day trip Mr. Murphy met with Canadian/Irish groups, representatives of the International Fund for Ireland, local media and was guest speaker at the annual Friends of Sinn Fein dinner in Toronto. Many Sinn Fein elected representatives and families of British State violence from the local area attended a rally this morning (Sunday) to show their opposition to the British Armys military parade through Belfast City. A rally was held in Dunville Park, Belfast, where Sinn Féin North Belfast MLA Gerry Kelly and Mark Thompson from Relatives for Justice spoke to the assembled crowd.
