Robberies in Belleek and Whitecross area

Sinn Féin Fews representative Jimmy Mc Creesh has called for greater community awareness following a spate of recent robberies in the Belleek/Whitecross area. The community activist was speaking in the wake of three separate house break-ins in the Belleek/Whitecross area. A national conversation - public meetings across Ireland. Newry and Armagh MP Conor Murphy has announced details of a public meeting which will take place on Wednesday 29th April at 7.30 in the Caledonian, Keady. Environmental Fears Following Oil Leak

There has been a large oil leakage into the river Fane in the Cullaville area. Local waterways have been badly affected with fears for the salmon beds which local Anglers have warned may be destroyed by this seepage. Newry and Mourne Environmental Health department are aware of this spillage and have erected two barges to filter the oil out of the water. Authorities on the southern side of the river have also erected barges in an effort to rid the water of this toxic waste oil. Read full article

Release of £150 fuel payments will help those most in need - Brady

Sinn Féin MLA for Newry/Armagh and the Party's spokesperson on the elderly Mickey Brady has welcomed news that the £150 household fuel payments have been released through the benefits system. An extra £7.5million is being added to the scheme which will help those most in need. A1 ROCK BLASTING NEEDS TO BE CANCELLED
