Sinn Féin Councillors welcome new training facilityPublished: 29 August, 2008
Sinn Fein Councillors Packie McDonald and Anthony Flynn
Councillors Packie McDonald and Anthony Flynn have welcomed the establishment of the Clanrye Employment and Training Services in the Slieve Gullion Courtyard Complex.
Cllr. McDonald stated,
The vacant Slieve Gullion Courtyard complex has been idle for too long. It is a wonderful facility set in the beautiful surroundings of South Armagh and we in Sinn Féin are delighted that the Clanrye organization has decided to settle here.
"I understand that the facility will have 12 fulltime staff who can train up to 30 young people and there will be training facilities available in a number of areas, including horticultural training for a wide and diverse level of abilities."
"I believe that there has always been a need for this training facility here, and I am certain that this will lead to a new and diverse employment opportunity for local people.
Councillor Flynn agreed and added that the new restaurant is also welcome.
"This site has been empty for years now and we have always known that it could be better utilised. With the increase in tourism here it is essential that we have a variety of places where people can stop and have a cup of tea or something to eat.
"We have some of the most beautiful and historic scenery in Ireland and this will help to compliment anyone's visit to the area.
"We in the council are hoping to provide a large play area there to help attract more people into the South Armagh and we know that once they come and see what we have to offer they will advise others to come as well. |
