Pat was first elected in 2001 and served as Mayor in 2005-6. Pat is recognised as being a hard-working public representative and community activist. He takes a keen interest local history and culture, and has been involved in many initiatives and projects across the District. He has a long association with the GAA and sport in the area, and is one of the key organisers of the annual Poc Fada event which takes place on Annaverna Mountain, Ravensdale. Pat recently qualified as a GAA referee
