Cathal Boylan MLA
Cathal Boylan has been an integral part of the Sinn Fein team in the Armagh City and District area for many years. A founder member and one time Chair of the McElvanna / McVerry Cumann in Keady, he was elected as Councillor, for the Crossmore ward, onto Armagh City and District Council and served from 2005 until 2008. He was Sinn Féin Party Group Leader on Armagh Council during this time. Until he stepped down from Armagh City and District Council to concentrate on his MLA role, Cathal was Vice Chairperson of both the East Border Regional Partnership and the Local Strategy Partnership (LSP). A lifelong resident of Keady, he is an active member of the local GAA Club, where he had been involved in coaching and underage football for many years. Cathal was the Director of Elections for the Crossmore Ward in 2005 and played an important part in Conor Murphy's successful campaign to become MP for Newry and Armagh in that year. In 2007 Cathal was elected as one of the three Sinn Fein MLAs for the Newry & Armagh constituency. He is Deputy Chair of the Environment Committee and a member of the Regional Development Committee in the Assembly. He is also Party spokesperson on Planning and Road Safety. Cathal is determined that those in the Constituency of Newry and Armagh receive strong representation both inside and outside the Assembly. He will work hard for all his constituents while never losing sight of Sinn Féin's vision of a United Ireland.
