Newry Armagh Sinn Féin Sinn Féin -- Building an Ireland of Equals

Cllr Noel Sheridan Mayor of Armagh & District Council

Noel Sheridan has been a life long Republican and has been a Sinn Féin Councillor for Armagh City since 1993. He has earned a reputation as a hard working and dedicated Councillor in that time and has been instrumental in the growth of Sinn Fein in both Armagh City and Cusher.

Noel has always been deeply concerned with the growing alcohol and drug abuse culture in our society particularly amongst young people. He has fought to get the Council to take a leading role, in partnership with other key agencies and voluntary organisations, to initiate a strategy that would help combat this rise of abuse.
Noel believes that a proactive strategy should be developed rather than the failed, reactive system currently available. He believes that young people need to have an input into the type of facilities provided throughout the Council area. He has always argued that young people need to be encouraged to get involved.
Noel feels that there is no point in telling young people what is best for them, rather they should be asked about their needs. Noel works hard for improvements to the provision of sporting and recreation facilities throughout the Council area.

He also lobbies for funding to be made available to community groups and those working to raise the self esteem and confidence of the most vulnerable in our society.

He also would like to see a major focus on the regeneration of the Shambles area in Armagh. He believes that through working in partnership with other interested agencies and the business sectors this could be achieved.

As Mayor Noel strives to ensure that Armagh City and District Council delivers an effective and efficient service, which will be accessible to all people
