Paul Corrigan - Armagh City & District Council
Paul lives with his wife Roisín and family in Tullymore where he is a highly respected member of the community. Paul is a lifelong republican. He was instrumental in establishing the Gerard O'Callaghan Sinn Féin Cumann in Tullysaran and is currently treasurer of the Cumann. Paul was elected to Armagh City and District Council for the Orchard ward in 2001. He has held the position of Sinn Féin Council Group Leader and has earned a reputation for his commitment to the community he serves.
Paul is an avid Road Bowler and is also involved in his local O'Connell's GAC, Tullysaran. Over the past number of years, Paul, along with his Sinn Féin colleagues has initiated procedures which have resulted in a more open and transparent council. Paul is a member of the Environmental Health and Recreation, Scrutiny and Best Value and Public Services Liaison Committees. He has endeavoured to ensure that the community of the Orchard ward receives equality of service and attention. Paul has always been very supportive of local historical and heritage groups who are working actively towards the revival of town land pride and identity. Paul has a keen interest in promoting the use of townland names. He has also voiced his support for the restoration and reopening of the Ulster Canal and believes that this project would provide significant benefits in relation to tourism, economic development and the protection of our architectural heritage. Paul is a member of the Blackwater Regional Partnership Board which works in conjunction with other organisations and statutory agencies to progress this cross-border project. He believes that a co-ordinated approach, involving the three councils of Dungannon, Monaghan and Armagh, is required to generate the necessary funding for this project. Along with the other Sinn Féin representatives on the three councils he has worked hard to encourage the necessary co-operation. Paul believes that everyone has a right to a safe, clean and unpolluted environment and he has worked very hard to ensure that this right is upheld. He is committed to directing additional resources and investment towards environmental renewal. He is proud of Sinn Féin's record of working for equality, accountability, transparency and efficiency in Armagh City and District Council
